About Bizen-yaki

Bizen-yaki is a traditional form of pottery produced primarily in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Its history dates back to the Heian period (794-1185) and it is counted among the "Six Ancient Kilns" of Japan. The most distinctive feature of Bizen-yaki is its natural texture achieved without using any glaze and by firing at high temperatures for a long time. This method gives each piece a unique color and texture, with subtle variations occurring during the firing process that add to the charm of Bizen-yaki.
Bizen-yaki is highly valued for its durability and practicality, often used for tea ceremony utensils, vases, and sake vessels. It is also known as a type of pottery that "matures" with use, as its color and texture evolve over time, making it a favorite for long-term use.

QUESTIONS

We store our inventory in two locations: Japan and the United States. This is because we currently have a large customer base in America. In the future, we plan to expand our distribution centers to other countries. For details on shipping methods and delivery charges, please click here.

We strive to deliver our products to our customers as quickly and affordably as possible by stocking them in both Japan and the United States wherever feasible. However, some of our teaware, especially those with limited stock or high popularity among customers worldwide, are only stocked in Japan.
