Sencha- Okuharuka Cultivar from Honyama,Shizuoka

This tea stands out as very unique from other sencha, even in terms of the color and shape of the leaves. It was produced in the Honyama region of Shizuoka's mountainous areas. Honyama tea, with the oldest history among Shizuoka’s tea-producing regions, is cultivated in the upper reaches of the Abe and Warashina rivers in central Shizuoka. It is one of the three major regional brand teas of Shizuoka Prefecture.

The tea gardens in the mountain valleys along the rivers are enveloped in river mist, resulting in leaves that are softer and more vividly green compared to tea from the plains. The tea has an elegant and gentle mouthfeel with a refreshing and unique aroma. This aroma, often referred to as the "mountain aroma," is one of the defining characteristics of Honyama tea. This tea was also produced using methods that maximize the "mountain aroma."

Although it has not obtained JAS organic certification, it is grown in a completely organic environment. While the intention of production was not to achieve finely twisted, beautiful shapes, it prioritizes creating a pleasant aroma typical of mountain tea, even if the appearance is somewhat rustic.
