In general, it is well known that Japanese green tea is effective for weight loss. This is because most of Japanese teas contain high amounts of catechin and caffeine. Catechin works to activate the enzyme that supports to burn body fat, while the main health effect of caffeine is also burning body fat. Then, how abour Hojicha? Hojicha is a roasted version of green tea and contains some amount of catechin and caffeine, but their amounts are not as much as those in the other Japanese tea such as Sencha and Match. Therefore if you want to drink Japanese tea to lose your weight, Hojicha may be the second choice. Sencha or Match is more recommended for weight loss.
