About Yutakamidori Cultivar
Yutakamidori is the second largest cultivar in Japan, after Yabukita. The "Yutaka" in Yutakamidori means "Rich". As the name suggests, it is a tea with a rich flavor and aroma, and you can feel the strength of its vitality. This 2021 harvest of Yutaka Midori tea is also very rich in umami and sweetness, yet it has a smooth finish. It is the perfect tea if you like a tea with a strong umami of sencha but not too strong body or aftertaste.
About Makurazaki, Kagoshima Prefecture
Makurazaki, a city facing the sea at the southern tip of Kagoshima Prefecture, is known for its bonito. The city has a 350-year history of bonito fishing and is the largest producer of dried bonito flakes in Japan. Makurazaki has a strong image of fish, but thanks to its mild climate surrounded by sea, mountains, and rivers, it grows high quality tea with a refreshing aroma and rich flavor. In this sense, Yutakamidori, which has a strong umami component, is the perfect variety for the climate of Makurazaki.
