SENCHA: Asanoka Cultivar, 100g/3.5oz

LILIKU TEA

About Asanoka Cultivar Sencha

Asanoka is a cultivar registered in Kagoshima in 1996. It contains a lot of amino acids and nitrogen, which make it pleasant to the palate, and its mild sweetness, reminiscent of sweet potatoes or chestnuts, spreads softly in the mouth. It has a strong umami with a refreshing aroma and little astringency, so the body is not too strong and the mouthfeel is very smooth.

About Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture

Kirishima is located in central Kagoshima Prefecture. Kirishima‘s “kiri” means “fog,” and as the name implies, the climate is foggy. It is also blessed with an ideal environment for tea production, with a large difference in elevation due to the mountainous terrain and a large difference in temperature between day and night, resulting in the production of high-quality tea throughout the year. Why is fog good for tea production? The fog acts as a natural curtain, blocking out the sunlight. This allows the tea leaves to contain a lot of theanine, the umami component. The elegant aroma of teas in this region is also brought from the effect of fog.
